Washington To Let Ryan Fitzpatrick Air It Out?
3 years agoWashington Football Team quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is going into potentially the best situation of his lengthy NFL career. This year, the veteran is the unquestioned starter for the entirety of the season. He won't have a promising rookie pushing him for playing time as he did with the Miami Dolphins last season. Head coach Ron Rivera has expressed his confidence in the 38-year-old's arm strength, signaling that Fitzpatrick will have the green light to air it out on offense. "With the players we have, with the speed we have," Rivera said, "we've got to consider throwing that ball downfield." If this is the case, Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel fantasy managers could be in for some blowup weeks. Dyami Brown has shown he is capable of being a deep threat, but there is plenty of competition for targets in Washington. He could be fourth or even fifth in line, as Logan Thomas could potentially be the second option in the passing game. Fitzpatrick will remain a QB2 in fantasy and could be one of the better weekly streaming options against weaker opposing defenses.
