Derek Carr, Henry Ruggs III Connecting On Deep Passes
3 years agoLas Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and wide receiver Henry Ruggs III have been building a rapport all throughout training camp, and the two had an impressive day of practice on Wednesday. Carr hit Ruggs on a 55-yard touchdown pass with a couple of defenders all over the former Alabama star. After a rookie season where he struggled, the 22-year-old seems to be ready to take on an increased role in the offense. The passing game will still go through tight end Darren Waller, but Ruggs could potentially be the No. 1 wide receiver in Las Vegas. Reports out of camp suggest it is an open competition for the WR1 label between Ruggs and fellow sophomore Bryan Edwards, but wherever Ruggs lands on the depth chart, he is currently a good value at his current average draft position of 122. He is a solid WR4 with some upside for big weeks against weak opposing secondaries.
