Carlos Hyde An X-Factor For The Jaguars?
3 years agoJacksonville Jaguars veteran running back Carlos Hyde has had a fairly quiet training camp up until this point, but at least one reporter believes that Hyde will play a big role in 2021. Brian Sexton of Jaguars.com believes that Hyde "might be an X-factor this season," and he's "interested to see if the Jaguars are getting the guy who averaged 4.4 yards a carry in 2019, because [Hyde] doesn't look anything like the guy who averaged 3.3 yards for them in 2018." Despite the praise, Hyde projects to exclusively spell James Robinson occasionally on early downs, and he doesn't have a path to passing-game work with Travis Etienne Jr. in the fold. It's worth noting that Hyde is close with head coach Urban Meyer (who also coached him at Ohio State), but that's not enough to warrant fantasy relevance going into the season. Hyde is just a low upside backup running back this season.
