3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo struggled to move the ball against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, completing three of six pass attempts for 15 yards, including an interception in the first quarter on a deep target to Brandon Aiyuk. However, the veteran quarterback had a nice scramble for 10 yards to extend the drive before throwing an interception to Chargers' rookie cornerback Asante Samuel Jr., which completely halted the momentum. He was thoroughly outplayed by rookie quarterback Trey Lance, who led the team on two touchdown drives to erase the deficit and win the game on Sunday. Garoppolo may be the team's QB2 sooner rather than later, depending on head coach Kyle Shanahan's approach to begin the 2021 season on the road against the Detroit Lions.--Matt MacKay - RotoBaller
