Daniel Bard Takes The Loss On Monday
3 years agoColorado Rockies relief pitcher Daniel Bard took the loss on Monday when he surrendered two runs on two hits with a strikeout over 1/3 of an inning in a 6-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs. The Rockies held a 4-1 lead heading into the seventh inning after Antonio Senzatela did a masterful job to start the game. Jhoulys Chacin and Carlos Estevez combined to blow that lead over the next two innings before Bard entered the contest in the ninth to attempt to preserve a 4-4 tie. He couldn't get the job done as Jason Heyward singled before Rafael Ortega swatted a two-run, walk-off homer to end the game. It was Bard's sixth loss of the season and the poor outing raised his ERA to 4.68 to go along with a 1.56 WHIP.
