3 years agoWashington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) continues to be held out of team drills at practice. He remained on the sidelines on Wednesday, but the workload he is handling is progressively increasing. The coaching staff has said they would ease the 25-year-old back into things, however, it would be in Samuel's best interest to start getting a feel for his new team. Samuel's stint on the COVID-19 list could be a factor in his lengthy absence from practice, but the team could also just be taking a very precautionary approach to his injury. Head coach Ron Rivera hopes to have the speedy receiver back at practice next week, which would give him a couple of weeks to prepare for their Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. The former Carolina Panther has played under Rivera and offensive coordinator Scott Turner before, so the familiarity between him and the coaching staff helps his outlook after all the time he has missed. Samuel is still a solid WR3 target as he figures to have a significant role in the passing game, and could get some work as a ball-carrier as he has during his time in Carolina.--Tommy Adamopoulos - RotoBaller
