Austin Gomber Rocked In Wednesday's Loss
3 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Austin Gomber took the loss on Wednesday when he surrendered five runs on seven hits with one walk and eight strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings in a 5-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs in game one of a doubleheader. Gomber was victimized by the long ball on Wednesday, with all five of his runs coming via the home run. He served up solo shots to both David Bote and Austin Romine before Patrick Wisdom put on the finishing touches with a three-run shot of his own. Gomber managed to rack up eight strikeouts, but the poor outing raised his ERA to 4.38 with a 1.20 WHIP and 111:35 K/BB ratio over 111 innings (22 starts). He'll get a relatively easy matchup on the road in his next turn when the Rockies visit the Rangers.
