3 years agoNew England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones has been impressive through the first two preseason games. However, veteran Cam Newton has played well and appears to be the favorite for the starting job. It's worth noting that Newton missed multiple days of practice because of COVID-19. While Newton was sidelined, Jones took over 500 snaps with the first team offense. Tom Curran believes that Jones has done enough to earn the starting job heading into the regular season. The increased practice reps certainly should've pushed Jones closer to Newton in the QB battle. Head coach Bill Belichick has said he is open to a quarterback committee. Newton might win the job out of camp, but it sounds like Jones has better long term fantasy value for the 2021 season.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
