3 years agoThe Kansas City Chiefs released an updated depth chart ahead of their Week 3 preseason game versus the Minnesota Vikings and listed running back Darrel Williams ahead of veteran Jerick McKinnon. Throughout the preseason, Williams has struggled in his limited action with four carries for eight yards and one reception for eight yards. McKinnon on the other hand has rushed the ball six times for 23 yards and caught five passes for 42 yards and a touchdown. Despite McKinnon looking better in the preseason, Williams has been with the Chiefs for the past three seasons and knows the offense very well. Sophomore running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire is set to be the No. 1 option out of the backfield this season, but insuring him would be wise for CEH managers. If CEH were to get hurt, Williams could handle the early downs and McKinnon would likely be the third down back with higher upside in PPR leagues. The Chiefs Week 3 preseason game versus the Minnesota Vikings could be a key factor in determining the backup running back for the team and managers should keep a close eye on the competition tonight.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
