Yasmani Grandal Activated On Friday
3 years agoThe Chicago White Sox announced on Friday that they have activated catcher Yasmani Grandal (knee) from the 10-day injured list. The veteran was placed on the injured list on July 6 and underwent surgery the following day to repair the tendon tear in his left knee. When he was in the lineup, Grandal wasn't doing much with a .188 batting average. Despite the low average, he has hit 14 home runs and knocked in 38 runs to go along with a respectable .388 OBP. Grandal will return to a stronger lineup with outfielders Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert both healthy and that could help increase the backstops RBI opportunities moving forward. With Grandal being activated, the White Sox have sent catcher Zack Collins to Triple-A Charlotte. The former first-round pick got plenty of opportunities this season to prove himself, but didn't do much to impress. Catcher Seby Zavala will now backup Grandal moving forward.
