3 years agoNew York Yankees pitcher Nestor Cortes Jr. was charged with the loss Saturday against the Athletics. Cortes pitched 5 1/3 innings, surrendering a trio of runs on four hits and three walks. The lefty only struck out four batters but generated an impressive 14 swinging strikes, 12 of which came on his fastball-slider combo. Cortes has been an effective fantasy starter since entering New York's rotation, providing rock-solid ratios,, as evidenced by his 2.77 ERA. He'll seemingly eventually be relegated to a long-relief role, though he should have a spot on rosters moving forward.--Tim Capurso
