Trevor Lawrence Shreds Cowboys In Preseason Finale
3 years agoJacksonville Jaguars rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence was nearly perfect in first-half action against the Cowboys in the team's preseason finale, going 11-for-12 with 139 yards and two touchdowns. Lawrence hadn't performed at an elite level in other preseason games, but he put the league on notice in this one. The rookie effortlessly found receivers in tight windows throughout the first half, and it wouldn't have mattered if he was facing a first-string defensive unit. Perhaps Lawrence played better because he can finally relax after head coach Urban Meyer decided to scrap his ill-advised Gardner Minshew II charade by trading Minshew to the Eagles. In spite of the fact that Lawrence was inexplicably robbed of valuable first-team reps in camp by his head coach, he looked like the league's next superstar quarterback on Sunday. Lawrence remains an upside QB2 in drafts.
