3 years agoMiami Marlins top pitching prospect Jake Eder (elbow) will be forced to undergo Tommy John Surgery. His 2021 season is over, as is most if not all of 2022 as well. Eder, picked in the fourth round of the 2020 draft, was off to an outstanding start to his professional career. In 71 1/3 Double-A innings, he had a 1.77 ERA and 99 strikeouts with 27 walks. He was quickly moving up prospect rankings and should still be a top-100 guy when he returns. Eder relies more on movement and deception than velocity, so while having him not pitch for over a year is by no means great, he's at a lower risk than most pitchers to not be able to return to form.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
