Jimmy Garoppolo Scores Rushing Touchdown in Preseason Finale
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo completed 4-of-7 pass attempts for 64 yards and carried twice for three yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 34-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in the preseason finale. Garoppolo converted a one-yard rushing touchdown at the goal-line to put the 49ers up 7-0. It's ironic because rookie quarterback Trey Lance was drafted third overall in large part due to his mobility and rushing upside, which is something not associated with Garoppolo. He was efficient from the pocket as a passer on the couple drives he started under center but was supplanted by Lance several times in key moments on early downs. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has not yet announced a starter for Week 1 against the Detroit Lions, so Garoppolo could still maintain the starting role to begin the season. As the QB37, Garoppolo can be picked up off of fantasy waiver wires if he is announced the Week 1 starter.
