3 years agoNew England Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer was released during a handful of cuts on Tuesday. However, he was only out of a job for a day as he's back on the Patriots roster heading into the regular season. Hoyer was signed to the practice squad on Wednesday, which at least gives them some depth. Jarrett Stidham (back) is going to be sidelined to begin the season, while veteran Cam Newton was released. Mac Jones will be running the show under center with Jakobi Meyers as the default backup. Hoyer is a fine backup option, but he won't provide fantasy value even if he's forced to take snaps in New England at some point.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
