3 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a clutch grand slam on Friday as his team made an incredible comeback to defeat the Athletics 11-10. Gurriel stepped to the plate in the bottom of the eighth with the bases loaded in an 8-4 game and crushed a 421' blast off Yusmeiro Petit to tie the game. It was his only hit of the ball game as he finished the game going 1-for-4 with a strikeout, batting out of his customary seventh spot in the order. The 27-year-old now has 15 HR, 44 runs, 60 RBI, and a .273 BA on the year, which is a bit underwhelming after a solid 2020 campaign. His middling stats won't win you a championship but they won't exactly hurt your chances either.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
