3 years agoDenny Hamlin knew what was coming and that was the No. 5 car of Kyle Larson. Hamlin had at least a four-car length lead. He played the line conservative and held off Larson by a margin of 0.212 seconds. That was enough to take home the Cook Out Southern 500 on Sunday night. With that, Hamlin automatically qualifies into the top-12. After so many close calls, including a top-five earlier in this year's Darlington race, Hamlin led 146 laps in all but was not the most dominant car. In the end, the No. 11 car was the one with positioning. Hamlin maximized that position and, as a result, held on for the win. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
