Tyrell Williams Hopes To Lead Charge In Week 1
3 years agoDetroit Lions wide receiver Tyrell Williams will try and establish himself as the WR1 in the Lions offense Week 1 against the 49ers. Williams has had a solid, if uneventful, training camp and will be entrusted to make plays in the passing game right off the bat. He will go up against a 49ers defense that allowed the 15th fewest fantasy points to opposing receivers last season. Obviously, it's a new year but the 49ers struggled covering tall, physical and fast receivers last season. Pass-catchers like D.K. Metcalf and Devante Adams punished the 49ers secondary last season and San Francisco allowed 18 total touchdowns to receivers last season. Williams is not on the talent level of the former players mentioned but the Lions best chance at winning in Week 1 may be based on the success of Williams and tight end T.J. Hockenson. Williams will have WR5 with a low floor heading into Week 1.
