Marquez Valdes-Scantling Has Chance To Step Up
3 years agoGreen Bay Packers wide receiver Marques Valdes-Scantling will have a chance to parlay a strong training camp into a fast start to his season beginning Week 1 against the Saints. Valdes-Scantling has been a frustrating player in past seasons, someone who can explode within a game as a tall, dynamic playmaker and disappear the next week. But reports out of training camp have been promising in regards to Valdes-Scantling's production in practice and has been fantastic securing the football on passes. The 26-year-old will go up against a Saints defense in Week 1 that allowed the 16th fewest fantasy points to opposing receivers. Valdes-Scantling caught only one pass against the Saints in Week 3 while teammate Allen Lazard exploded for 146 yards with one touchdown. Until Valdes-Scantling proves it on the field, Lazard is the choice as the Packers WR2 to start the season.
