3 years agoMiami Marlins relief pitcher Anthony Bass took his eighth loss of the season in Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves. He pitched one inning, allowing two solo home runs, lifting his ERA to 4.23. That's actually better than his FIP, which sits at 5.12 after this outing. Bass has been overall bad this season, but at least part of the blame has to be put on manager Don Mattingly. Bass has done nothing to show that he can handle high-leverage work this season, yet he continues to pitch in high-leverage situations. With Mattingly's penchant for mind-numbing bullpen decisions and Bass signed through 2023, there's a non-zero chance Bass will enter next season as the Marlins closer.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
