3 years agoOn Tuesday, New York Mets starting pitcher Marcus Stroman went six effective innings against the Cardinals, allowing only two earned runs on four hits and one walk, while striking out eight. Unfortunately, the Mets wasted Stroman's performance by losing 7-6 in 11 innings. Tuesday's performance was Stroman's second quality start in a row, and fifth out of his last six starts. In three September starts (at a time when fantasy managers need him the most), Stroman has posted a 3.12 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, to go with 17 strikeouts over 17 1/3 innings pitched. On the season, Stroman has a 2.88 ERA (eighth-lowest ERA in MLB), 1.12 WHIP, and a 151:40 K:BB ratio over 169 IP and 31 starts. Even more impressively, Stroman is tied with Max Scherzer and Walker Buehler with the most starts of no more than two earned runs allowed this season at 23. Stroman has far exceeded the expectations of fantasy managers this season and should continue to remain active in all formats. Stroman will be a free agent at the end of the 2021 campaign. The Mets would be wise to lock up Stroman to a long-term contract given the pitching injuries they have suffered to their starting staff this season.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
