Adam Ottavino Earns Win In Relief Wednesday
3 years agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Adam Ottavino got four outs against the Seattle Mariners Wednesday, striking out two batters without allowing a baserunner. He now has a 7-3 record on the year to go with 20 holds, 11 saves, a 3.68 ERA, a 1.36 WHIP, and 67 strikeouts in 58 2/3 innings. Since Matt Barnes was removed from the closer role, the back end of the Boston bullpen has been wide open. While Ottavino may seemingly have the inside track on most opportunities, he's best not to be relied upon except in leagues that also reward holds, as Garrett Whitlock, Hansel Robles, and other have also seen save chances.
