William Byron Surprises Many, Finishes Third at Bristol
3 years agoWilliam Byron had to feel like deja vu was coming once again. He was starting 14th and was out of the playoff Round of 12 coming into the night. Byron was only tenth after Stage 1 and briefly had fallen out of the top ten during Stage 2. It looked like time was not on his side. Then, Byron found the pit adjustment and line that he needed. He inched his way up the field. By the end of Stage 2, the No. 24 car found himself in fourth. From there, Byron contended the rest of the way and nearly passed Kevin Harvick for second place at the end. Byron was ticking off laps at Kyle Larson's pace. He found the speed, a third-place result, and a spot in the Round of 12.
