3 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in the Mets 3-2 win over the Phillies on Sunday. Alonso was red hot last at the beginning of September but has since fallen into a funk at the dish. Over his last seven games, Alonso is batting just .192/.323/.346 with one home run, two RBI, and two runs scored. That said, despite the hitless night on Sunday, on the bright side, Alonso did go 3-for-9 in the series with the Phillies that just concluded. Notwithstanding the recent struggles, Alonso remains a must-start. He has posted an impressive .261/.341/.510 slash line this season, to go with 33 homers, 87 RBI, and 74 runs scored over 518 at-bats. He should remain active in all formats for the Mets final 12 games of the season.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
