Andy Dalton Still Bears Starting Quarterback When Healthy
3 years agoChicago Bears quarterback Andy Dalton (knee) is facing at least a short-term absence in the wake of the news that he will undergo an MRI on Monday for what the team hopes is just a bone bruise. But despite the fact that Dalton's absence will pave the way for 2021 first-round pick Justin Fields to take over under center, it appears the veteran's status as the starter in Chicago is safe upon his return. While head coach Matt Nagy did not clarify the point Monday, a team spokesperson for the Bears has confirmed that Dalton, when healthy, will be viewed as the starter. That news keeps a hard cap on Fields' upside for those playing in single-season fantasy leagues. Check back for the latest update on Dalton's injury status, which will give a clear read on when he will be able to return to the field.
