Pete Alonso Hits 34th Homer In Losing Effort
3 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in the Mets 6-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday. Alonso has struggled at the plate recently, batting just .240 over his past seven games. That said, he has now homered twice over his last five games, suggesting his bat may have one last hot streak in it before the 2021 campaign concludes. On the season, Alonso has slashed .261/.342/.514 with 34 home runs, 88 RBI, 24 doubles, and 75 runs scored over 141 games. While Alonso won't reach the 50 HR plateau he reached in his rookie season, it still has been a productive season for the 26-year old slugger. Alonso should remain active in all formats for the Mets final 11 games of the season.
