BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED: 24% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Eagles fans were so desperate for depth at wide receiver and so excited about tenth overall 2021 draft pick DeVonta Smith filling that void that they seemingly forgot all about their 2020 first-round pick Jalen Reagor. The 5'11, 197-lb. gadget out of TCU did a little bit of running and returning in college, and a whole lot of catching and scoring, but saw only eleven games as a Philadelphia rookie last year, catching 31 balls out of 54 tries for 422 scrimmage yards (396 receiving) and a TD with another score coming on one of his four punt returns for the season. He continues to return punts for the Eagles, and with Jalen Hurts running the offense, Reagor had quite possibly the best game of his young career in Week One against Atlanta with six receptions out of six targets for 49 yards and a touchdown. Next, in Philly's lackluster outing against San Francisco, Reagor reeled in two balls of five targets, but only amassed five yards.
As I write this, the Eagles trail the Cowboys 20-7 at the start of the third quarter, with Philly not seeing much offensive success and Reagor having seen two targets, one catch, and seven yards. However, not counting MNF, Reagor is second on the team in targets (11), tied for first in receptions (8), fourth in receiving yards (54), and is one of three Eagles with a TD catch. Quez Watkins is probably just a once-in-a-while type of player catching the defense by surprise while Smith, Dallas Goedert, and Miles Sanders all fall into line ahead of Reagor in passing priority, but the catching core remains comparatively shallow and Zach Ertz's role is diminishing significantly. Even with some inconsistency and tricky roles being played by Philly skill players, the improvement of Hurts (and the whole offense by proxy) and the talent/versatility of Jalen Reagor make him a tool worth implementing in deeper formats.
Update: Reagor finished with five receptions on eight targets (both numbers led the team), good for 53 yards receiving (tied with Ertz for second-best). What at first looked like Reagor's second mediocre outing in a row turned into a second-half rally towards another solid showing, with encouraging progress made by Hurts as well in spite of the MNF loss.
