3 years agoWashington Capitals goaltender Ilya Samsonov will make his first appearance of the season in Tuesday's home game against Colorado. Vitek Vanecek went 1-0-1 in the first two games to start off the season. Samsonov had a strong year in 2020-21, picking up 13 wins and just five defeats in 19 appearances. He posted a 2.69 goals-against average with a .902 save percentage and two shutouts. Colorado has Nathan MacKinnon back in the mix and it's not the easiest matchup in the world for the Russian netminder, but the Capitals have dominated the Avalanche on home ice, winning 10 of the last 12 games.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
