3 years agoThe Boston Red Sox designated outfielder Franchy Cordero for assignment on Thursday. Boston needed the roster space to reinstate right-handed pitcher Phillips Valdez from the COVID-19 Related Injured List. Cordero was traded to Boston in February as part of the three-team trade that sent Andrew Benintendi to the Kansas City Royals. The former Kansas City outfielder hit .189 with a .237 on-base percentage, a home run, and a stolen base in 136 plate appearances for the Red Sox this past season.--Ben Rosener - RotoBaller
