NASCAR Truck Series: DraftKings DFS Lineup Picks for Martinsville United Rentals 200 (10/30/21)

After almost a month off, the NASCAR Truck Series is back.

One race remains in the Round of 8. One last chance for the drivers to lock their way into the championship race. But the tight turns of Martinsville stand in the way.

Here at RotoBaller, we want to help you make informed decisions about your DFS lineups, which is why I'll be breaking down the slates for the Truck Series. Let's look at some NASCAR Truck Series DFS lineup picks for the United Rentals 200 on DraftKings. Be sure to also check out our NASCAR Premium Tools for Truck Series including our DFS Lineup Optimizer and powerful Research Station.

Johnny Sauter #13 ($10,900)

Starting 22nd

Johnny Sauter is...

(how do I say this nicely)

...not as good as he used to be. The 2016 Truck Series champion saw his streak of 11 consecutive seasons finishing in the top 10 in points snapped last year with a 13th, and now he ranks 12th this season. He hasn't won a race since 2019.

But this has traditionally been one of Sauter's best tracks. He's got four wins and 14 top 10s here, and since 2016 he has five top fives. If Sauter is going to be able to look like vintage Sauter somewhere, that place will be Martinsville. Some really good place differential upside here.

John Hunter Nemechek #4 ($10,600)

Starting 1st

There are 200 laps led and 200 fastest laps available for the drivers in this race, so we should target someone who can collect those things. There are a handful of decent plays for that role, but my money is on Nemechek, because he'll be in a fast KBM truck and will start the race on the pole, giving him some clean air early on.

Plus, JHN has won here before, taking his family-owned 8 truck to victory lane back in 2018.

Taylor Gray #17 ($8,800)

Starting 39th

Time for some extreme place differential plays. There's a lot of them in this race.

We start with Taylor Gray.

He has an average finish of 25.3 in three career Truck Series starts, but one of those races was a road course and one was a DNF. He was 12th at Gateway, showing some good speed in this DGR truck.

Gray has never been to Martinsville, but he does have a lot of experience in various lower series at short tracks. And I mean...he starts 39th. There's a ton of upside.

Jack Wood #24 ($7,500)

Starting 34th

Wood has not been great in his first season, with one top 10 and an average finish of 26.7.

But look, this is a GMS truck that starts 34th. Regardless of the whole "is Jack Wood good?" question, we have a fast truck here, assuming he stays out of trouble, which could be an issue seeing as Wood has four DNFs this year. But hey — one of those was at Talladega and another were at Knoxville, so they should barely factor into an evaluation of Wood.

Chris Hacker #45 ($6,300)

Starting 37th

Chris Hacker has two Truck Series starts, with an average finish of 32nd. He finished 37th at Vegas after a mechanical issue after just six laps.

But, uhh, there's too much upside here with a Niece truck that starts 37th, even if his Racing Reference page features a grand total of four races on it. Sprinkle some Hacker into your lineups and hope he keeps the truck clean through a chaotic race.

Austin Wayne Self #22 ($5,700)

Starting 21st

Love the value on Austin Wayne Self.

Self has 13 top 10s in his Truck Series career, with one of those coming last year at Martinsville, when he finished ninth. He has four top 10s this year, and it's definitely worth noting that none of those have been at superspeedways.

This 22 truck has been solid. Self is 14th in points with an average finish of 17.1, up about three spots from last year.

Fantasy players need Self to just finish six or seven spots above where he starts for this to likely be a strong day points-wise at this salary. I think that's a bet worth making.
