Joc Pederson Declines Option, Opts For Free Agency
3 years agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Joc Pederson has elected free agency, turning down his end of a $10 million dollar mutual contract option for 2022. He will instead receive a $2.5 million dollar buyout. The back-to-back world champion slashed .238/.310/.422 for both the Cubs and Braves this season, totaling 40 extra-base hits, including 18 home runs in 429 plate appearances. Pederson enters a deep market of free-agent outfielders, and his fantasy outlook for 2022 could largely hinge on where he lands. Should he end up as a platoon bat once again, he'll hold much stronger value in daily formats.
