9-Category Leagues - Waiver Wire Adds

This column is written based on H2H 9-category standard size leagues. All players in this article are rostered at around 50 percent or less.

Talen Horton-Tucker, SG/SF - Los Angeles Lakers

62% rostered

THT is probably already rostered in your league, as he's jumped up by like 50 percent this week. While he had a real stinker in his last game, his four-game sample this season still looks really good: 18.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game on 43.9 percent shooting with 2.0 threes per game. And maybe most importantly, he's starting and playing over 30 minutes per game. You want someone with a safe minutes load when you're looking at the wire. THT has that right now.

Devin Vassell, SG/SF - San Antonio Spurs

48% rostered

The Spurs should consider starting Devin Vassell, maybe. But even coming off the bench, he's compiling some strong numbers. In the last five games, Vassell is averaging 14.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game while making 2.8 threes per contest. There will be nights where Vassell shoots 25 percent from the floor, but you just have to make it through those nights and live for the highs, because he's capable of putting up 20 points, five rebounds, and a steal in any given game.

Monte Morris, PG/SG - Denver Nuggets

46% rostered

Per Monte Morris, Monte Morris has been playing through a leg injury and is finally getting right. Over the last four games, Morris is averaging 12.3 points, 5.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game on 47.9 percent shooting. He's struggling from deep over that span, going a combined 3-for-14, and he hasn't attempted a free throw in his last eight games, so Morris isn't a perfect player to add, but he's doing enough.

Kevin Huerter, SG, SF - Atlanta Hawks

30% rostered

Huerter has made nine threes in the last two games and has scored in double figures in three of his last four games. He also has five-plus boards in four of his last five. It looks like Huerter's back into the role that people who were high on Huerter had hoped he would be in. There will be some clunkers, like when he only had four points against the Magic.

JaVale McGee, C - Phoenix Suns

28% rostered

With Frank Kaminsky hurt, McGee is getting more minutes. He's scored 10-plus points in three of the past four games, and has six or more rebounds in seven consecutive contests. His ceiling isn't super high just because he's not really playing more than 20 minutes, but he's making the most of the limited time he's getting, and the last time he saw 20-plus minutes of play, he had 19 points and 14 boards.

Chimezie Metu, PF - Sacramento Kings

28% rostered

The Kings made a coaching change, so we can't really be sure how the rotation is going to look for the next little bit. But hey, Metu has been playing well. The fourth-year player hasn't done a ton in his NBA career, but in the last five games -- all games that he started -- he's averaging 10.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game, along with 1.6 threes per game. He hasn't been efficient, but if you aren't concerning yourself with field goal percentage, then there's some nice upside here.

Alec Burks, SG/SF - New York Knicks

26% rostered

14 or more points in four of the last five games, including a season-high 20 on Saturday against the Rockets. Burks appears to be a reliable source of points, steals, and threes right now for fantasy managers, plus he can provide some solid rebounding numbers. It also feels like there's some room for expansion, as he's only playing 25ish minutes per game.

Isaiah Hartenstein, PF/C - Los Angeles Clippers

18% rostered

Need blocks and steals? Then may I offer you one Isaiah Hartenstein, who has had at least one of each in six consecutive games. He also can give you points in the low double-digits and decent rebounding numbers, but the steals/blocks are definitely the main appeal for fantasy managers.

Jarred Vanderbilt, PF/C - Minnesota Timberwolves

13% rostered

Two games in a row with Vanderbilt grabbing double-digit rebounds, and against Memphis he posted a certifiably weird stat line: five points, 10 boards, three assists, three steals, and two blocks. If you need things that are not points from your fantasy team, Vanderbilt is a fascinating addition. He'll continue to play 25-ish minutes per night, so the boards, blocks, and steals should keep coming.
