Michael Conforto Declines Qualifying Offer
3 years agoOutfielder Michael Conforto has declined the one-year, $18.4 million qualifying offer from the New York Mets on Monday, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. Instead, the 28-year old will take his chances on the free agent market in hopes of landing a multi-year deal. Conforto had his worst offensive season since 2016, slashing .232/.344/.384 with 14 HRs, 55 RBI, and 52 runs in 125 games. He still has plenty of upside, though, as he's managed to produce a career OPS of .824 across seven seasons. Conforto should be a mid-round pick in many fantasy leagues, capable of supplying power and RBI without hurting the batting average category too much.
