Corey Seager Declines Qualifying Offer Monday
3 years agoFree-agent shortstop Corey Seager has reportedly declined the one-year, $18.4 million qualifying offer from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday, according to Jorge Castillo of the L.A. Times. Seager will now enter free agency, allowed to sign with any club. The 27-year old missed a lot of time this past season but played well when on the field. He slashed .306/.394/.521 with 16 HRs, 57 RBI, and 54 runs over 95 games. He's one of the many star shortstops on the market but should receive a nice payday after posting a career .867 OPS thus far in seven seasons with the Dodgers. There's always a risk drafting Seager given his injury history, but with the power and batting average combination, he can be worth the early round price tag if he's able to play a full season.
