Gabe Kapler Named NL Manager Of The Year
3 years agoSan Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler was announced as the National League's Manager of the Year Tuesday. Milwaukee's Craig Counsell and St. Louis's Mike Shildt finished second and third. Kapler led San Francisco to the best record in the majors this season, and his 107 wins were the highest in franchise history, considerably better than the 75 games Baseball Prospectus's PECOTA projected the Giants to have. It's a triumph for Kapler, who has risen above and beyond his disappointing tenure as skipper of the Philadelphia Phillies. He'll look to lead his club back to the playoffs in 2022, though he'll be without stalwart Buster Posey, at least.
