ANALYSIS: I don't think there is a team currently being hit harder by injuries/protocols as the Magic are these days. Orlando is missing all of Ross, Bamba, RoLo, Cole Anthony, Fultz, Okeke, and rookie-sensation Jalen Suggs. It's borderline impossible to think something like this could happen, but here we are in the (now) 2022 year of our Lord. Good for the Magic, I guess, is the fact that Gary Harris is finally getting his game right and righting his early-season wrongs.
Harris has started 18 games in a row at either guard position getting back to Nov. 20. He's played at least 24 minutes in each of those games and averaged an actual healthier 33 MPG in that span (18 games played). The improvement has been steady, though. In the first half of that span Harris was averaging an 11-2-2-1 per-game line compared to a better 16-2-3-1 in the latest nine to close 2021.
The improvement is not that substantial, I know, but he's been able to drop his turnovers numbers a bit too and he's shooting 46% on the last seven games played in all of which he's reached double-digit points (min. 13 on Dec. 28). Harris is a bona fide bucket getter, has hit at least one triple in 15 games straight, and 2+ 3PM in 12 of those 15 matches, and comes with nice upside on the boards (for a guard) and the steals department (1+ SPG since becoming a starter).
