ANALYSIS: The New Orleans Pelicans might not be so good, but that also might mean that they are fully committed to developing their young building blocks. It is not that NOLA is throwing the season away while waiting for Zion's comeback (if that happens at all this season...), but they have absolutely given rookie Herb Jones the keys to the starting wing position at the SF/PF spot and he's been working rather nicely on it.
Jones is definitely not going to make the ROY ballots. That said, he's been quite solid in his short time as a pro, is playing 29 MPG on the season, and since he started on a Nov. 24 night he's never come back to the pine while staying on the court for a bulky 32 MPG a game. If you look at the scoring stats you won't find anything to love from Jones (8 PPG on 47/34/81 shooting splits; just 0.6 3PM per game in his current starting run). But the rest of the cats are Herbert's bread and butter.
Jones is averaging 7+ rebounds, 2+ dimes, 1.8 steals, and 1.3 blocks since he became a perennial starter for the Pels. The season averages are lower, of course, because it took time for Jones to adapt to the L's pace of play and he wasn't starting nightly in his early days. But do you know how many players in the NBA are putting up a 7-2-1-1 baseline, even without looking at the points scored? FOUR. Vooch, Dray, Giannis, and AD. Oh, and Jones in his 26-game span of games from Nov. 24 to Jan. 6. If you're passing on this monster of a performer, then I don't even know.

Fantasy Basketball Deeper-League Waiver Wire Adds for Week 24: Isaac Okoro, Kris Dunn, Josh Richardson, Corey Kispert, Delon Wright
The deeper a fantasy basketball league, the harder it is to hit a winner with your last few picks. It is also harder to find decent help from the waiver wire if your late-round picks don't do you justice. If you picked up a few stinkers, don't lose hope just yet. I will try to […]
Onyeka Okongwu (SF/PF, ATL): Week 24 Waiver Wire Pickups
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 16% of leagues ANALYSIS: The Hawks are currently the 10th seed in the East but are also tied for 8th and 9th with Brooklyn and Charlotte respectively. There's even a chance (albeit small) that Atlanta could rise as high as to reach the 7th seed if […]
Immanuel Quickley (PG, NYK): Week 24 Waiver Wire Pickups
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 48% of leagues ANALYSIS: If we use common basketball sense, then the New York Knicks and Coach Thibs should try and see what the young guys such as Immanuel Quickley have in them and what they can provide the franchise with ROS, as the NYK are […]
Deni Avdija (SG/SF, WAS): Week 24 Waiver Wire Pickups
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 37% of leagues ANALYSIS: One would reasonably think that a player seeing a playing-time boost such as that of Deni Avdija's this month would make said player drop his efficiency numbers. Well, not the case for the Wiz Wing by the looks of it. Avdija has […]
Nicolas Claxton (PF/C, BRK): Week 24 Waiver Wire Pickups
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 24% of leagues ANALYSIS: The Nets can finally rest assured they'll make the play-in portion of the season. Not quite what you expected when the season got rolling back in October, but at least more than what the Lakers would have accomplished a week from now. […]
