Browns May Need Offensive Line Help
3 years agoCleveland Browns right tackle Jack Conklin (knee) may not be ready for training camp this summer after rupturing the patellar tendon in his right knee on Nov. 28, a day after he was activated from Injured Reserve after suffering a dislocated elbow. While guards Joel Bitonio and Wyatt Teller signed contract extensions last year, left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. dealt with injuries and didn't make the progress many expected after he was the 10th overall pick in 2020. Swing tackle Chris Hubbard missed most of the year after suffering a triceps injury in Week 1, and he'll be a free agent in March. Fourth-rounder James Hudson III was thrust into the lineup before he was ready. Center J.C. Tretter could be a salary cap casualty if the team decides Nick Harris is ready to take over. The bottom line is that the Browns will need to bolster their tackle depth through free agency and in the draft. Injuries and COVID-19 forced Cleveland to use seven different starting offensive line combinations last year.
