Derek Carr's Future Tied To Head-Coach Hire?
3 years agoIt appears that the future of Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr will be closely tied to the team's decision on what they do at head coach in the offseason. The Raiders and Carr have a mutual decision to make this offseason, and sources say the choice of the head coach will be a factor. Carr has made it clear that his preference is to stay in Vegas, but he has a year left on his five-year, $125 million deal and has earned a near top-of-the-market extension. Whether general manager Mike Mayock stays could also affect Carr's future. The 30-year-old signal-caller impressed both on and off the field during a year with extreme turmoil within the organization. Carr finished the regular season with a career-high 4,804 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, 14 interceptions and a 94 quarterback rating.
