The 58-year-old, who's been with the team since 2006, is currently on vacation and hasn't made himself available to those looking for answers. However, some believe a brief retirement may be on the horizon, with defensive coordinator Dennis Allen emerging as the top candidate to take his place. Payton has three years left on his current deal, but New Orleans could receive compensation if he ends up coaching elsewhere. Nevertheless, it's a situation to monitor, especially as it relates to Taysom Hill, who's been a favorite of Payton for years.
