Universal Designated Hitter Likely For 2022 Season
3 years agoBarring something completely unexpected, it's assumed that the universal designated hitter will be in place for the 2022 season. Both sides -- Major League Baseball and the players union -- are in favor of the universal DH. Players also offered a 12-team playoff format and the league proposed to drop free-agent compensation during talks on Wednesday, but the biggest core economic issues won't be discussed again by both sides until later this week or early next week. Unless the two sides bridge the large gaps on multiple economic issues extremely quickly, we're likely looking at a delay to the start of spring training this year. Stay tuned.
