Patriots, Bill O'Brien Have Mutual Interest In A Reunion
3 years agoThe New England Patriots and former offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien have "mutual interest" in a reunion, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Patriots are looking to fill the position after Josh McDaniels left to become the Las Vegas Raiders head coach. O'Brien was the team's play-caller from 2009 to 2011 before getting head-coaching jobs at Penn State and with the Houston Texans. He is currently the offensive coordinator for Alabama, where he briefly overlapped with quarterback Mac Jones, who is now New England's QB. For what it's worth, Alabama head coach Nick Saban said, "I don't think Bill is trying to leave." Tight ends/fullbacks coach Nick Caley and Cleveland Browns wide receivers coach Chad O'Shea could be other candidates for the Pats offensive coordinator position.
