Jameis Winston To Replace Tom Brady In Tampa?
3 years agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers could consider a reunion with quarterback Jameis Winston now that Tom Brady has officially announced his retirement. The Bucs still have enough talent to contend, but they don't have enough salary cap space to spend big. Winston is still only 28 years old and wouldn't cost Tampa draft picks or a huge salary, and he has obvious familiarity with the team's playbook and personnel after playing for them from 2015 to 2019. He started seven games in 2021 for the New Orleans Saints before a knee injury ended his season and had 14 touchdowns and only three interceptions while posting a career-high 102.8 QB rating. Through 14 weeks in 2019, Winston was averaging 327 passing yards per game and had thrown 30 TDs. He also threw 30 interceptions that year, but Winston looked more mature in New Orleans and could be Tampa's best bet to replace Brady on the free-agent market.
