3 years agoNew England Patriots impending free-agent quarterback Brian Hoyer doesn't have plans to retire this offseason, according to a league source. Hoyer was the primary backup to rookie Mac Jones in 2021, but it's unknown if the Patriots will try and bring the veteran signal-caller back in 2022. The 36-year-old Hoyer has plenty of experience, but the Patriots offense would be in trouble if he re-signs and is forced into starting duties if Jones is injured at all in his second season. With three separate stints in New England, Hoyer has an unmatched knowledge of the Pats offense and was a valuable mentor for Jones in his rookie season. Jarrett Stidham, who wasn't active for a single game as the No. 3 QB last season, has one year left on his rookie contract and would be the No. 2 if Hoyer isn't re-signed.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
