3 years agoNew Houston Texans head coach Lovie Smith is very aware of quarterback Davis Mills' potential and promise after a strong rookie year in which he took over as the team's starting quarterback due to injuries to Tyrod Taylor and Deshaun Watson's legal situation. "He played about as well as any of the rookie quarterbacks did last year. So (I'm) excited about some of the things that he can bring," Smith said. Mills didn't win a game in his first seven starts, but he played much better down the stretch and showed promise for a third-round pick. Going into his second year in 2022, he'll have a familiar face to work with in newly promoted offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton. Taylor is a free agent and Watson could very well be traded, so it remains to be seen if Houston will take a QB with the third overall pick despite Mills' strong showing in 2021.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
