Falcons Want Calvin Ridley To Stick Around
3 years agoAtlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley missed most of the 2021 season after saying in a statement on Oct. 31 that he was stepping away from football indefinitely to work on his mental health and well being. There has been speculation that Ridley could be traded this offseason to give him a fresh start, but owner Arthur Blank said on Wednesday that he hopes Ridley remains with the team. "We love the young man," Blank said. "He has had a great history in Atlanta. We'd love him to stay in Atlanta." Ridley is under contract through the 2022 season after his fifth-year option was picked up last year. In 2020, he had 90 receptions for 1,374 yards and nine touchdowns, so he has WR1 potential as the team's No. 1 receiver if he stays with the Falcons and quarterback Matt Ryan returns as well.
