Ja'Marr Chase Named Offensive Rookie Of The Year
3 years agoCincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, the team's first-round draft pick, was named the 2021 Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year on Thursday. He became the first receiver to win the award since Odell Beckham Jr. did it in 2014. In 18 regular season games, Chase had 81 catches for 1,455 yards and 13 touchdowns. He set the single-season record for rookie receiving yards, and the total was also a franchise record. Chase's 266 yards in the Week 17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs were a single-game rookie record. His speed and quickness allows him to gain plenty of separation from defenders, and his chemistry with quarterback Joe Burrow is off the charts. Chase's 512 yards on deep passes outside the numbers were the most in the league since at least 2016, according to Next Gen Stats.
