3 years agoThe Minnesota Vikings will name Ed Donatell as their new defensive coordinator next week under soon-to-be head coach Kevin O'Connell. The 65-year-old Donatell was the Denver Broncos defensive coordinator for the past three seasons. Donatell has also served as the defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons. He has mostly focused on coaching defensive backs in his career. Donatell's schemes have mostly utilized two-deep safety looks, and he figures to bring a similar setup to Minnesota. As a result, the Vikings could shift to a 3-4 defense after 16 years in a 4-3 base defense under head coaches Mike Zimmer, Leslie Frazier and Brad Childress.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
