C.J. Uzomah Barely Involved Against Rams
3 years agoCincinnati Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah, who played through an MCL sprain in the Super Bowl loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, caught both of his targets for only 11 yards. Uzomah played a healthy 80% of the offensive snaps, but he was used as extra blocking protection for quarterback Joe Burrow a lot of the time. He also likely wasn't 100% healthy after injuring his knee in the AFC Championship win over the Kansas City Chiefs just two weeks prior. The 29-year-old had the best season of his career in 2021, putting up career-highs in catches (49), receiving yards (493) and touchdowns (five) on 63 targets over 16 regular season games. Uzomah's numbers this year could easily be his ceiling, and he's slated to become a free agent next month.
