Bengals Defense Records Two Picks In Super Bowl Loss
3 years agoThe Cincinnati Bengals defense was more than adequate in the Super Bowl on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, but the Bengals still came up short 23-20. The Bengals only got to quarterback Matthew Stafford for two sacks in the big game, but they did manage to produce the only two takeaways on Sunday by picking him off twice. Their biggest accomplishment was absolutely stifling the Rams rushing attack, holding Cam Akers and company to only 43 total rushing yards. In all, Cincy allowed 313 yards of total offense, but in the end, they were unable to stop All-Pro wideout Cooper Kupp on the final drive of the night that produced the go-ahead, game-winning touchdown. The Bengals D didn't have any superstars in 2021, but they all contributed in their own way and were especially stout against the run, holding opponents to just over 100 yards per game.
